About the Role
As a Test Engineer — EMI/EMC (Electromagnetic Interference / Electromagnetic Compatibility), you will partner with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver measurable impact within the Vanta ecosystem. This role blends hands-on execution with rigorous compliance testing. You will be responsible for conducting EMI/EMC tests on a variety of electronic, electrical, and IT/AV products to ensure they meet stringent international regulatory standards. Working in a fully accredited laboratory environment, you will play a critical role in helping clients achieve global market access by identifying and resolving compliance issues early in the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- EMI/EMC Testing: Perform pre-compliance and compliance EMI/EMC testing including Radiated and Conducted Emissions, Immunity tests (RS, CS, ESD, EFT/Burst, Surge, Magnetic Field, Voltage Dips, and Interruptions).
- Standards Interpretation: Read, interpret, and apply international EMC standards (e.g., CISPR, IEC, EN, FCC, IS) to test setups and procedures.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain advanced EMI/EMC test instrumentation, including Spectrum Analyzers, EMI Receivers, LISNs, Amplifiers, ESD Simulators, Surge Generators, and Anechoic Chambers.
- Test Setup & Execution: Prepare the Device Under Test (DUT), configure supporting equipment, and execute tests strictly following approved test plans and SOPs.
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Collect, analyze, and evaluate test data. Prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive test reports detailing test setups, methodologies, results, and compliance status.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide technical guidance to clients regarding test failures. Assist in root cause analysis and recommend design modifications or mitigation strategies to achieve compliance.
- Lab Maintenance & Calibration: Perform daily checks, routine maintenance, and calibration of laboratory equipment to ensure continuous accuracy and accreditation compliance (e.g., ISO/IEC 17025).
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all testing activities are conducted in strict adherence to laboratory safety protocols and quality management systems.
Requirements
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. or M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical Engineering (EEE), or a related technical field.
- Experience: 3 to 6 years of hands-on experience in an EMI/EMC testing laboratory, testing agency (e.g., TUV, UL, Intertek, BSI), or an in-house corporate compliance lab.
- Technical Expertise: Strong practical understanding of EMC principles, test methodologies, and measurement instrumentation. Ability to set up complex test configurations.
- Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with standards such as CISPR 11/22/32, IEC 61000-3-2/3-3, IEC 61000-4 series, FCC Part 15, and IS 6833.
- Certification: iNARTE/NARTE certification (or equivalent) is a strong plus but not mandatory.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex EMI issues in electronic circuits.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write detailed technical reports and interact professionally with clients and R&D teams.
